Illustrator can be used to accomplish many different design tasks. For this reason, Illustrator CS4 Essential Training teaches core concepts and techniques that can be applied to any workflow for print, the web, or assets that will find their way into other applications. Mordy Golding explains the elements that make up vector graphics—paths, strokes, and fills—and shows how to use each of Illustrator’s drawing tools. He demonstrates how to combine and clean up paths, and organize them into groups and layers. Mordy also covers text editing, working with color, expressive brush drawing, effects, and much more. Exercise files accompany the course.

Modo Subdivision Surface Modeling tutorial

Modo Subdivision Surface Modeling v4.0.1 SP2
Modo Subdivision Surface Modeling v4.0.1 SP2 | 430 MB

This video tutorial from Luxology’s Andy Brown is all about how to approach the modeling of hard surface (vs. organic) model with multiple interlocking parts. When approaching any kind of complex model it is best to have a plan or methodology that will allow you to complete the project in an efficient and controlled manner. In this video album we show you how to develop and apply such a plan as you tackle modeling a high resolution game or film asset. The video is for anyone wanting to understand the fundamentals of modeling with Subdivision surfaces. We start by exploring efficient ways of creating initial stand-in geometry, which will not only be an invaluable tool for testing the design of the object, but will also act as a starting point for the final model and other people in the production pipeline. We then explore the decision making processes involved in tool section and workflow as we construct part of a “mech” using Subdivision surfaces. We then use basic animation rigging in modo to make sure the model has adequate clearances for someone else to animate.

Wiggle your hips down the catwalk with 3D Fluff's Non-Organic Modeling DVD. In Volume 3 you will find a large spectrum of modeling tools, tips and methods covered - teaching you many useful techniques.

The first tutorial will take you from a simple cube to a fully featured remote control. Janine shows you how to handle bevels, edge loops and HyperNURBS to create a high quality, clean flowing mesh suitable for almost any purpose.

An easier torch project is demonstrated by Matthew along with a whole host of technical modeling tips. These include Booleans, Lofts, Extrudes and more; allowing you to use the right tool in the right place to achieve the best results.

With over 4 hours of footage, this represents the longest and most detailed training DVD produced by 3D Fluff to date. These lessons take you to a more advanced level than previous DVDs, yet they still retain a sensible learning curve for those who are new to CINEMA 4D.

This DVD strictly requires CINEMA 4D Release 9 or above due to the modeling tools used.

Main topics covered:

- Creating clean and efficient polygon meshes
- HyperNURBS weighting
- Polygon and Spline based modeling
- Which tool to use in any given situation
- Making your life easier with the correct selection tools
- Common shortcuts

GI character modeling tutorial. The model is created from Poly's and then later converted to Subdivion Surfaces for fine tuning of the mesh. The tutorial also covers the use of the infamous mjpoly tools script for the creation of edge loops for the facial structure in minimal time and Mayas own Split Poly tool.

The Texturing will cover the creation of custom brushes and seamless tileable textures in Photoshop followed by how to create a uv layout for a polygonal and subdivison surface character model in Maya. After these first few chapters, create realistic skin textures using a combination of hi resolution photographs and airbrushing, again within Photoshop using layers, then back into Maya to fine tune the textures using IPR (Interactive Photo realistic Rendering).

Colour line Graphics in AS3

 Colour line Graphics in AS3
I found an old post over at theflashblog.com which demonstrates the capabilities of the Actionscript 3 graphic API. The example shows a single line that displays random colours when the mouse moves and when you click, the movie clears. I have decided to slightly modify the code, so that you have to hold down the mouse to display a randomly colour line and double click to clear the movie.
